hey can some1 suggest me a good robot which can be designed using image processing...i have one and half years to work on it!! how do i start!!
can some1 please help,, im thinking of a bot for face detection

Well, think of the features you want on this robot, compile a list.
Include things like:
NO: of wheels/legs
what you want it to do (navigate, relay position etc)
and how much your budget is.

is this idea good enough for a finall year project... how much time ll it take?? i have one and half years with me

Well, the three main things you will want are:
1. A platform to host everything, including drive mechanics etc...
2. A microcontroller unit to control the platform. Such as the axon/axon 2
3. A camera board. Such as the blackfin.
Is this your first robot? What do you want the robot to do? Face recognition could mean a lot of things...

i have attended a workshop where we designed a bot using dtmf.... but still im still a beginner in this field..

As you said face detection could mean a lot of things.. i am not yet sure as what i am going to do. can u suggest??

Well, facial recognition... Your robot will be able to do that, But then what?
What will your robot do after it recognizes the face?
