Title: Want to build a similar robot. Please help.
Post by: Rahulvyas on October 07, 2012, 06:34:25 AM
Hello,
I want to build a powerful and a very cheap robot like this- http://www.robotshop.com/dr-robot-jaguar-tracked-mobile-platform-4.html (http://www.robotshop.com/dr-robot-jaguar-tracked-mobile-platform-4.html)
I have  a 6ch radio system including receiver.
I was looking for these motors-
1) http://www.vegarobokit.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=35_40&product_id=133 (http://www.vegarobokit.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=35_40&product_id=133)
or
2) http://www.vegarobokit.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=35_40&product_id=132 (http://www.vegarobokit.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=35_40&product_id=132)

The only difference between the above linked motors is that of RPM. According to the manufacturer it requires-12v and 700MA max current.
Is this motor good enough, I dont want to spend more than 25$ in purchasing motors including shipping. Also is there anyway I can make good big treads myself? Like using bike chain?
Also, How many motors I require? Will using two motors for main drive(The main body NOT including the other part which has treads but can make up and down) make it shower?

How will I control the motor's with respect to change in it's speed(When I change the throttle/move the throttle stick the  speed of motor also changes)??

Please help, this is really important for me. I cant afford a Sabertooth,And I dont think I dont need it because the motors listed above only require 700MA current maximum. What do I do then?

Will go step by step and understand everything completely, I have little knowledge about Arduino(Have a bit, have 2 arduinos at home) and never used any other MC.
Also, I am not aiming for fpv and osd. I am looking for only control and BIG nice mechanism.

Thanks in advance,
Rahul
