« on: December 14, 2008, 03:23:59 PM »
Hallow friends
I build a system whit robotic arm for handicapped person that sit in wheelchair
The lags and the hands are paralyzed
The hade of the handicapped person will be like a joystick that control the robotic arm
Now I seek after others possibilities for the robotic arm

Happy searching then.

If you want suggestions, please show us what you have made so far - and tell us why you need something else.

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?

You want to use the persons head as a joystick? for the robotic arm? That will prove to be incredibly difficult if not impossible. The person wouldnt be able to control the arm properly because any time they moved their head to look at something the arm would move. That could create a LOT of problems.

You say the persons legs and hands are paralyzed. Do you mean they cant move their arms at all either? If thats the case then im not so sure what your attempting to do can be done as a hobbyist... Could you provide more information for exactly what youre trying to do?

I would like to build or buy a telescopic tubular arm. The range should be from approx 2 feet to 10 feet.  I was thinking of using o rings and a small co2 cartrage and solenoid. Any ideas.  I can make the base etc. just need some ideas on the extention portion.  Thanks

Theres just about only one true way to do this and that would probably be a brain im plant of some sort
my english teacher once said, "dont talk about what you dont know in public...."

so I replied the truth, " Exactly why I dont ever talk about English."

Dont hijack threads. Make your own please.

There have been ways of interfacing with the brain without actually implanting anything into the brain but the control from that method as far as I know is pretty limited. Im not really sure what the limits are but I think I remember reading somewhere that it was indeed possible to control minor things (maybe not a robotic arm) using just a sensor helmet to read basic brain waves.
There are experiments however that have been done and are probably being done using electrode implantation where monkeys have been able to control robotic arms without actually moving their own arms.
Try YouTubing some things :)
