I just added two new search engines for SoR.
Ever wanted a robot parts search engine, without all that other googley garbage?
http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_parts_list_search.shtml (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_parts_list_search.shtml)
And another that searches only tools for building robots:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_tools_search.shtml (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_tools_search.shtml)
Why use these over a normal google search? Well, they are designed to *only* search robot parts sites.
Give them both a try. You can find both linked from the Robot Parts List (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_parts_list.shtml). The advantage is that you can now bypass the list and go straight to what you want.

Brilliant idea Admin. Great new feature.

I thought I was crazy. "Were these searches always here and I didn't notice?"

Bad news.
Google is now limiting custom search to a maximum of 20 sites. Its part of their 'new and improved' upgrade. :-X
The robot parts search requires closer to 50 sites to function properly . . .
If we don't find a workaround by March 31st, we can say bye-bye to the robot parts search . . .

Lol, is this a way of asking us to look for a workaround as a certain secret product is taking all of Admin's time? ;) ;)

Nice Idea!
I'll go bug the guys at d.i.c. for search engine stuff...

To be honest, I'm a bit resigned to it . . .
The only solution I could think of was dividing it into ~6 different searches, with about 20 sites each . . . a 'batteries search', a 'mcu search', a 'motors and servos search', etc . . . doable, but annoying and convoluted . . .

Ever tried coding your own search engine tool ;)
If google can do it, anyone can ::)

You can use any custom search engine for this. I had used "Sphider" in my site, and gave up later due to its weird letter based algorithm. But still worth a try... maybe aside to google search.

@Admin
Send me the URLs for the sites you use and I'll try to create something.
Yep Java at the backend but just plain old HTML for the user - so none of your firewall strangeness !
Bit like the search functionality in my HTML WebbotLib docs http://webbot.org.uk/WebbotLibDocs/ (http://webbot.org.uk/WebbotLibDocs/)

It's all the sites in the parts list:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_parts_list.shtml (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_parts_list.shtml)
Like if I search for 'servo', it'll come up with all the pages selling servos.

I'm too lazy to hunt'n'gather over all those links. PM me a list of URLs
