Simple Robot with Camera
« on: June 23, 2007, 12:44:32 PM »
i am pretty new to robotics...i have just made a simple line following robot using photoresistors.. Now i want to do the same thing using a camera...
i have a cheap ccd camera which just has the red output port ( normal AV wire port )... Can i use this camera??
if so how will i be able to configure it??
and will i still be able to use the ATMEGA16 that i used for the old robot??
i am totally lost as to how to connect the camera to the microcontroller!!.. Can anyone also suggest a good link where i will be able to learn the programming knowledge i will need to do the same....
Thanks,
Tarush

I recommend just buying a CMUcam or AVRcam (search for both in the forum/web)

i had planned to make a robot with a camera to follow a line..however i live in india and thus do not acess to the avrcam or the Cmucam...therefore i will have to make the development board myslef..
does anyone know how i will be able to this...i have a ccd camera and would prefer to use the atmega16.
i do not need any fancy image processing algo's i just want a very simple algorithm to follow a line.
please can somebody help me?
thanks in advance.

Both the AVRcam and CMUcam are open source and have both schematics and code for you to copy.

Have you checked out RoboRealm yet?

John Orlando, the maker of AVRCam, told me that he ships worldwide and has many customers around the globe. So send him an email to get a quote on the shipment for your country. I'm sure he'll help you gladly.
Check out the uBotino robot controller!
