Title: RF reciever with antenna?
Post by: BANE on May 31, 2009, 01:26:31 PM
Hello,

So doing some more testing with my test plateform robot.  I have a wireless PS2 receiver and I was wondering if I would get more range if I attached a antenna from a wireless net receiver to it.  I honestly don't know too much about antennas but does each antenna have some frequency rating or something?  This antenna is for a 2.4Ghz (I think).  Heres a pic of the PS2 receiver, I'm hoping i can just solder on the antenna on the exposed metal on the top.

Just to be clear the PS2 receiver is also 2.4GHz.

Hmm, apparently I'm not the only one in the dark about this :D.  I found the exact antenna here http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=558 (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=558)

Can anyone at least tell me if the pin in the connector is what gets connected to antenna and if the rest should be grounded?
