I am building my secong bot and want to know the best microcontroller that can be bought for about $50-$100 or would I be better off buying what I'm pretty sure is the axon desigened by the sysatem admin fior Sor
my english teacher once said, "dont talk about what you dont know in public...."

so I replied the truth, " Exactly why I dont ever talk about English."

Yeah axon would be the best according to me but you should also try building your own microcontroller.
You'll gain exp. though its really time consuming but when you'll be done you will be proud of it for sure!

a microcontroller is basically just a chip.
it depends on what you want to do: doing your own development board is more time consuming, but cheaper, and it allows more flexibility. you can get raw AVRs, PICs, ARMs this way.
you can also get a ready-made devleopment board, "augumented microcontroller" as they call it around here. such is the axon.
there are also a lot of other boards out there, such as the arduino and freeduino for avr, mikroelectronica does some really nice ones for PIC, etc..
Check out my homepage for in depth tutorials on microcontrollers and electronics.

Yeah the project I'm working on is going to be in he $300 dollar range. I'm still in school and really in need to learn how to build and do anything were I wantt o go to MITor CMU in a couple of years.
Note: this is my first project ever handling the electronics fully, I normally do programming and chassis, arms etc.

The $50 was the first one I did and now I'm trying to go on my own I understand how everything works plus I'm not the person that really likes following directions thinking out of the box and doing things my way or improvising is the way I normally do things may be a good thing may not who knows

Dude!SO DO I!!!
I'm a high school junior too.
For robotics MIT and CMU are the best!
My sis. was also from CMU....hope that pays off..... ;)

dont want to spoil your fun but being an engineer for someone else doesnt really pay the big bucks
being the engineering type ( not necessarily having the degree) AND being an entrepreneur makes the big money. Yet it has its risks.

Yeah,
So do I.
I am interested in robotics and finally persuaded my dad into financing me cuz..I'm broke...So after 1.5 years..it finally paid off....
I was never forced into it just because of the money but because I really like it...like a passion more of an ambition and a really big problem is I
suck at programming big time.
Thanks for your advice anyway.
