Lately I've been looking a lot at motors and I've decided that I want motors of a similar rpm/torque to an rc car I have. The car has two motors and is 4wd. After a few tests and some help on this forum, I've come up with this...
car weight: 3lb.
rpm with the car on the ground: 720rpm (17ft/sec)
torque 6.74 lb/in.
First of all, I want to know if that sounds right, but I'm also wondering if anyone knows of a motors with similar specs. So far I haven't found anything.

Ok I think I might use this motor ( http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-COPAL30.html (http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-COPAL30.html) ) but I want to run it on 12v not the 9v that its rated for; would that work? Also, why does it say to use wheels no larger the 1.5 in.?

770rpm @ 12V
So, at least for very short periods it should work.

That motor would be awesome but its discontinued. Its also a little expensive (for my budget). I'll try and find something in the middle of the two motors.

Yes, but with motors bought from new, you usually get what you pay for.
If you want quality stuff cheap, look for surplus or used equipment - don't you have a scrap yard or a recycling facility where you live?
A flea market might have a large fouled up R/C car, perhaps without the transmitter - that might be a potential source too.
Yet another option would be to use a non-gear motor and build the gearbox yourself.

Thats true but I'm not looking for something too fancy just as long as it works like it says without breaking. Do you think this motor will do that?

I not sure of any where I can buy used electronics but I can have a look around.

I don't think I'll make a gearbox on this robot... maybe when I get more experience.
