Male Header Question?
« on: February 14, 2009, 02:34:44 PM »
I bought breakaway male headers that are .1" in size. Will my hs-311 servo connector be able to connect to these. I tried to plug my servo in and the male pin seemed to long for the servo connector. Is the servo connector supposed to cover the whole pin?

It does not have to cover the whole pin, as long as it in there its fine.

If they are standard PWM (Servo) cables (three wires: red white/yellow, black) then you will be fine, because all of these use Molex connectors.

All you need is continuity, so no, it is not always 100% covering the header.

Both my standard hitec servo connectors, and molex sl connectors have a good seated connection on 0.1" spaced male breakaway header pins.

You dont need to solder the servo connector to the header pins (if thats what your planning to do).  The purpose of the connector (whether it be a hitec or futaba or similar connector) is so that you will not need to solder the wires, you can just plug your servo's into the header pins.  only if you did not have a connector, then you would need to solder the servo wires directly to the Header pins.
