I'm interested in building a robotic plane for a state science fair. Unfortunately my experience in robotics is limited to only a few years dabbling in Lego Mindstorms. I have no idea how to build from scratch and to be honest i'm a little frightened.
So anyway, I need some help selecting parts to buy, since I have almost no experience.
1. I need a lightweight microcontroller that's relatively cheap and easy to use. I know how to program in C but im not sure what kind of compilers/equipment ill need
2. I need one motor that's powerful enough to create lift, then several very small, very minor servos to control the flaps/etc to change direction
3. I also want a small remote control device that could deploy a parachute (and possibly be able to shut down the motor) for testing purposes
Any ideas? Also, any links for further reading about constructing a robotic airplane?
