URGENT Can I Unplug Axon?
« on: January 18, 2009, 03:05:51 PM »
I was just trying to upload some code to my Axon and it's been at verifying 00000 - 00000 for the last couple of minutes. It usually takes at most 35 seconds. Can I turn my axon off without locking up the chip?
Sorry about the obnoxious title but this is urgent.

if it's been verifying for that long, then something is probably wrong.  I accidentally unplugged mine in the middle of programming before and all was ok, however, i'm not guaranteeing anything  :-\

no offense but this is what you were asking:
Should I turn off my Axon now or should I wait for my battery to die? Either way there was no real solution to the problem.

For future reference Verifying just reads the microcontroller to see if it was programmed correctly, Verifying doesnt write anything to the microcontroller.
Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!

Jdog, do you know what caused it to happen in the first place? Low battery perhaps? I've never seen that error before . . .

Please help before my battery dies.

Well, if someone answered me, there might have been a chance of saving the axon if it actually made a difference.

Hey Jdog - you sound pretty sore right now!

Obviously forums ain't real time and whilst everyone wants to help then realtime help isn't guaranteed. I know that doesn't help you - its just a fact of life.

Can you sill connect to the Axon? What errors do you get?

On the plus side - I cannot believe that you can 'fry' a chip via software as that just goes against all rules. So I'm sure there must be life in the board.

keep talking......

Everything's fine now, and no damage was done. By "fry" I meant lock-up which I have done to many an atmeg8 mcu by accidentally unplugging before it was turned off and things like that. I was just afraid that it might happen with the much more expensive axon mcu.
