Title: Servo Continuous Rotation
Post by: Raeven on August 02, 2009, 03:07:16 PM
my second post;

Hey guys I was working on the first robot tutorial today and I need to modify the Hitec HS-311 servo for continuous rotation and I am not wanting to spend an extra twenty bucks for the dealer to do it for me so I was wanting you guys to post links to tutorials of continuous rotation. Thank You!(in advance) :D

Good luck on your first robotics project and welcome to SOR!

Here is the tutorial for servo modification http://www.societyofrobots.com/actuators_modifyservo.shtml (http://www.societyofrobots.com/actuators_modifyservo.shtml)

very easy, just remove the pin which is in the last gear!

in most cases you must cut the tab and blue the pot head down...
normally only metal geared servos have pins...

if you haven't bought the servos yet you can buy them (being ones for continuous rotation) for about the same as regular ones
i know solarbotics and robotship.us carry them, as well as a couple of other places.

i know its good to know how to mod servos, but, i'm lazy :P

i m with wil,i prefer to buy continuous rotation servos.i m also too lazy  but i agree that learning this technique is just awesome but anyways both cost  the same so i prevent buying servos without mod. ;D ;D

he said he didn't want to pay to have them modded...

You don't pay them, they come pre-modded at the factory.

they come pre modded and they cost the same, saves you a lot of time and effort and costs the same, thats why i buy mine pre modded
