I suppose it had to happen. Arduino has designed a robot. It looks to be fairly well equipped. Mega32 chip, all the usual bits and bobs and a big, useful LCD screen in the middle.

I saw the kit at Maker Faire today -- $275! Yikes!
Similar-ish bots like the Pololu Zumo or the 3pi are half to one third that price. I wonder how the market will react to that.

I revisited the design last night and was dismayed to find that it doesn't seem to do RC5 codes by default, which would have made it super useful like the Arexx RP6. Mind you, the number of expansion boards that enthusiasts will make available should increase its utility, and being open source there are bound to be cheaper ones along soon.
