Yea I saw these a few months ago, and although they look cool/unique, I dont trust the video editing. :-\
Robotics has too many people editing out parts where the robot doesnt work in their videos . . . They only publish the video of it working that rare 10% . . . know what I mean? And these videos just reak of it . . .
I have done this in the past, too . . . but I try to make it a point to use/encourage long unedited clear shots to prove reliability and functionality . . .
rant rant rant :P

rant rant rant continues...
Gusts of wind? High water-pressure under water? They don't seem sturdy enough to withstand those kind of things. Or is that me just being nit-picky?

They definitely took an artsy approach with the music and editing, but the fluidity of motion was impressive. You probably caught the developer's segment on Talking Robots - http://lis.epfl.ch/resources/podcast/mp3/TalkingRobots-RudolfBannasch.mp3 . It was interesting to hear him talk about the efficiency of the penguin's design - wasn't it 180km of travel on 1kg of krill == 1500km on 1 liter of pure jet fuel ?
