Title: Ponyprog alternative?
Post by: javafiend on January 22, 2008, 11:23:01 AM
Hi all,

Can anyone recommend an alternative to Ponyprog for Windows XP 64-bit?  I couldn't get Ponyprog to install on it.

Thanks!

I'm actually running the 64-bit version of XP and get an error saying that Ponyprog only runs on 32-bit XP.  I'm at work so I can't get the exact error, but I'm sure you get the idea.

dunnon if this'll help:
http://ponyprog.sourceforge.net/phorum/read.php?2,501

or try compiling the sources yourself. i think its just the installer denying you to install ponyprog.

avrdude seems to be 64-bit safe already if you don't mind the curses based UI.

I am totally lost at this point.  I've tried AVRdude with AVRdude-gui and can't seem to make heads or tails of it.  PonyProg won't install.  I can't tell if it is a software problem at this point or if I just did a crap job on my board.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Oh yeah, this post has some pics of my board for reference http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=2966.0 (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=2966.0)

Hi,

Another GUI you may want to try is Burn-O-Mat (a Java JAR):

http://avr8-burn-o-mat.aaabbb.de/avr8_burn_o_mat_avrdude_gui_en.html (http://avr8-burn-o-mat.aaabbb.de/avr8_burn_o_mat_avrdude_gui_en.html)

Or, you can try following the AVR-Dude tutorial at:
