What Wire Should I Use For My Circuit?

Hey guys,

I am getting mixed results when I try and search for the gauge of wire I need for my circuit so I came here to hopefully clear this up.

My circuit draws approximately a maximum of 48 amps.  Two motors that run at 24 volts that draw 22 amps each and then the rest of the electronics draw around 4 amps.  The maximum length the wire could be is 10 in I have 12 gauge wire laying around, but I'm not sure if that can handle the job.  I think 10 gauge wire would work, but I'm not sure.

What are your guys thoughts?

sorry i dont have an answer BUT JESUS! 48 AMPS!! what are you using them for? a battle bot i presume!

According to this chart http://www.windsun.com/Hardware/Wire_Table.htm you may be pushing it with 12gauge, but I'm not expert. Also take note that the distances specified in the chart are much longer than yours, take what information from it you want. Good Luck!

Ok I saw some 8 gauge wire on sale.  That should do the trick.
