Title: $50 Robot Parts question
Post by: owenbear317 on January 03, 2010, 09:03:41 PM
Hi again. :P

For certain parts required for the $50 robot, could I get some of the parts from RadioShack instead, despite the prices? (5V Linear Regulator, 220uF+ Electrolytic Capacitor, .1uF Ceramic Capacitor, and LED, just to be more specific)

Thanks! :)

Yeah, RS parts will work just as well as any other (as long as they're very close!)

You can buy the parts from any vendor convenient for you. Just make sure that the part you buy and the one used in the tutorial is the same.

For example, you cannot just buy any 5V linear voltage regulator (as you have mentioned) for building the robot. You have to buy a LM7805 regulator.

And the same applies for the rest of the products? I was worried my LED might make the thing explode or something. :P

If you are unsure about how close a part is to the original you can google for the datasheet and compare it to the original parts datasheet.
