Title: Batteries??
Post by: m4a127 on December 07, 2007, 08:48:40 AM
hey, I am using 2, 6v, 300rpm, geared dc motors for robot locomotion. Can u please suggest me the ideal battery pack i shud be using for the task. Will using 2x3.7v(series) 1400mah lithium batteries suffice for each motor or shud i go for NiCd only?

regards

2x3,7 is 7,4V
But DC motors can handle that over-voltaging... They'll get a little hotter but if you don't stress them hard for too long no problem.

Li ions require an intelligent charger, which costs much more then a normal one.

If you would decide not to use the Li ions, don't use NiCd but use NiMh, they're pretty much the same but NiMh have no memory effect.
wikipedia it for more info.

(I'd go with NiMH)

Just use my calculator. It will tell you how long your battery will last with your servos.
