IMU 5DOF MPU6050
« on: October 30, 2013, 11:59:47 AM »
Anyone know where I can buy an IMU with 5DOF ITG3200/ADXL345? Apparently I can only buy from within the UK. Most of the products I have seen are outside UK. Does anyone have any link to a store I can get this from?

Thanks,
:)

modern gyro/accel like MPU6050 is actually 6dof and not even similar in performance to the old ITG3200/ADXL345 combo. and if you cannot order from china then maybe this hobby is not for you. if you ask nicely i think your mother will allow use of her credit card on ebay or aliexpress. now that invasense released their new 9150 w/compass the 6050 prices have plummeted. about $2-$3 for a tiny breakout board with 6050 gyro/accel, regulator, led, etc..

Farnell sells things in the UK, as does active-robots.com and robosavvy and a few other stores.
RoboSavvy is a SparkFun reseller, and has most of their stock. For example, try this:
http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info.php/products_id/1280

Or you could start a business that imports things from China, and then re-sells them. That'd work too ;-)
Just look for "6dof IMU" and you'll find tons -- the combo you're looking for is outdated and not as readily available on the market.

Also, for your information: I found those links in 10 seconds by googling "robot shop UK" and looking at the top 5 hits. I'm just sayin' ...
