Robot Gripper/hand design
« on: September 04, 2008, 06:20:13 PM »
Alright, so this design isn't entirely my own. I got the idea from one of those 'Gopher' things that the Oxy-clean guy sells. It's real simple, and I've built this with erector set pieces to test, and it works great. The grey metalish box on the long shaft portion represents a rack gear, which should be turned by a servo or whatever you want. The fingers at the end should be made immobile, just put screws in the other holes. Don't forget washers also. Lemme know what you think or if you have any questions.
So if the blue wire goes here, then that means...(bzzzt) oops....

a lot of the people here are too lazy to download it and view it ( I personally am , since I had a loong day at school )
Can you perhaps upload a .jpg of your CAD design ?

Ok, here you go. I understand how it is with school. I just home from school myself. Here are the Sketchup and 2 of the "test" claws.

very nice design , I assume you have a motor pushing the linear shaft.

Here is the finished (for now) version. The hole at the end if for the wrist servo. the 2nd pic is just a cutaway showing how the servo sits to open and close the hand.
