CNC tube bender

i am making a cnc tube bender on a small scale to bend 3/16in tubing.
i have all the parts machined but i am lost on the electrical part.
i want to  be able to turn a  knob and display a certian degree to bend to and then
push go and it runs the servo till the potentiometer on the bending DIE reaches the preset
degree. then return to 0 and display reset for another bend.

pls help me i am very new at programming. i deal with mechanical engineering and am just
starting in the world of electrical engineering side.

need to know what part i need to assemble this. thanks for looking.

Hi,

I see two solutions:
Use the potentiometer to replace the one in the servo (simply wire the pot on the die where the servo pot used to go).

Or... Dispense of using a servo and use a DC motor with a comparator to compare the pot on the die to the set value. Then just control the set value to stay for sufficient time and fall back.

What precision and resolution do you need?

A rather fast and fairly heavy robot with quite large wheels needs what? A lot of power?

i like the idea of rewiring the servos pot. as for replacing the servo with a dc motor im not sure how that will work as i am looking to get about 60 lbs of rotational force thats why i wanted to use a servo with 611ozin in a 5:1 gear reduction.
