Title: help!!50$ robot!

Hello!I'm new!I'm italian!
I want to built 50$ robot but I have more problems.
1) I didn't find in Italy the hitech HS-311 but I found the HS-325HB, i will be able use it?
2) Can I solder a serial port on the perfboard instead of the AVR STK Serial Port Dongle or AVR ISP2 Programmer?

Yeap. You can use any hobby servo you like. The HS-311 is just a very low cost (but still good quality) servo.

Not really. You will need what is called a TTL to RS232 adaptor (such as a max232 IC and supporting capacitors). And to program your ATmega8, you MUST attach the programmer to upload at least the first program.
