Title: wiring problem
Post by: bobthefirst1 on October 03, 2011, 05:22:39 PM
The problem is I have a speaker and an microphone mounted on my robo. I've decided to go non-wireless for this project, but I don't want 3 wires running from the robot to the computer (speaker, microphone, and other robot stuff). Is there some way to combine all there wires in to one? My idea is: create a custom cable that has usb and 2 aux connectors combined into one connector, and make the wires split when it reaches the computer. Is there a better way to accomplish this?

Easy, just tape together all three wires at intervals and ,viola , you have one cable.
I recommend you twist the speaker and mike wires together first,

It will prevent interference and feedback.

No need to twist the USB cable in though most standard USB cables are shielded.

Hope this helps

Another possibility is use a length of cat 5 ethernet cable. It has 8 wires in it in four twisted pairs.

Why not a standard audio/video cable. You know, the one with a red, white, and yellow?
