Motor Drive and $50 robot
« on: January 29, 2008, 09:24:26 AM »
Hi

I am building the $50 robot this isn't my first robot so i got some of these chips
http://www.solarbotics.com/assets/documentation/kit10.pdf
and i was wondering if i could us these plus a normal geared motor instead of the modified servos.
and how would i need to modify them to be able to be mated with the 3 pins on the $50 robots cercit bored.

hmmm you might be able to. but the question is, is it worth all the hard work when you could just get a servo?
Robots are awesome!

umm if i understand yourplan correctly then you wont need to do that(modify them to be able to be mated with the 3 pins on the $50 robots cercit bored)
you will need an h-brigdge. i cant tell you anything about the circuit board wiring cuz i dont know much of it but yea read this: http://www.societyofrobots.com/schematics_h-bridgedes.shtml
it may be difficult to understand at the beginning(at least it was for me) but i understand it completely, just look for some robots that use the h-bridge and you will too :)

you would need to change the code of the software for the $50 robot , so I would suggest getting servos

Change the code, and change the headers since it would be just output onto the H bridge

Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!

very easy. get an ESC. you wont even need to modify the code. but make sure to get the right one. cause brushless and brushed ESC are diferent
Problems making the $50 robot circuit board?
