Free robot CAD
« on: July 04, 2012, 08:28:12 AM »
I was thinking of buying the blender package and using it for is a way to design my robots before I make them. I think it would serve as a double feature in that it can give me a 3D view and I can also program the parts to move so I can see if it will actually function as I hope it will. Do you guys think this is a good idea, or is there a better rout to take?

If you are a student, I believe Autodesk offers every single one of their CAD programs to you for free.

Have you tried Google Sketchup ? It's free and very good to be honest. There are a few videos you can watch to get you started.

I'm currently using it to design by bi-ped :-) Then I'm printing the design out on a printer I made. You can make components and then rotate them to see if it's going to fowl anywhere.
