Title: Looking for cheap range finders

Well it has finally happened, after all my planning, conniving, paper used, and post-poning. i've decided to say screw it and jump on in. So i've finally  started building a robot from scratch and I need some sensors beyond PIR and photo-resistors. Since the bot is 14.5 CM from servo center to end I figure a IR range finder in the range of 20 cm to 150 cm should fit my needs perfectly, but they cost 15$ a piece. Does anyone happen to know a place, besides Ebay, where I can get them cheaper?

Well thats not a range finder, thats the.... well i dont know what to call it, but its only good for encoders or proximity, not things 60" away...

And the rangers on the site are even more expensive then the 15$ range.

Woot, that looks about right, also do any stores stock this on the shelf or is it purely web?

Any store that stocks parts is going to be more expensive than the web stores. And you pay sales tax and gas instead of shipment. Get the sensors, servos and what ever other parts you need and you pay $4.80 for orders lower than $50 from that web store.
