if anyone wants to join #robotics on freenode, you can get mirc, kvirc or if you are a mozilla user, chatzilla. Opera has inbuilt support for irc.

you will have to configure your client to connect to the freenode server, by using the dns: chat.freenode.net
after that, you will have to join the channel (somehow like a discussion group, or thread, in the case of the forum) #robotics.
this is accomplished by typing /join #robotics on all irc clients or by using the GUI.

ok so you can just join the #SoR channel on irc.freenode.net (irc://irc.freenode.net/SoR) . I'm on it right now with airman00 but I'm not sure how to change the topic (yet)
