MAXIM IC RS232 Transceiver
« on: April 15, 2007, 02:10:29 PM »
I have just received a few samples of these chips - http://datasheets.maxim-ic.com/en/ds/MAX3322E-MAX3323E.pdf

There aren't many tutorials on the net using these, but there are loads using the Max232 IC. This chip can replace a MAX232 cant it? I mean it has all the PINs that a MAX232 has, and 4 more.

How could i wire these 4 wires up, so that it would effectively be a MAX232? I wanna learn about RS232.

Thanks

look at the diagram labled "Typical Operating Circuit" on the datasheet.
if you compare it to the similar diagram on the MAX232 datasheet you should be able to work out the differences.

Can you provide the MAX232 data sheet link also?  I may be able to work it out with both and see if it is plausable.

o, i never made this clear in my earlier post.
it will definatley work in pretty much the same way, you will just need to take into account the slightly different pinout.
