Hi,
I am making my first robot as part of a project at university. I am going to build it from the beginning and I have no idea about the basics: how many degrees of freedom and what type of joints should I use?Could somebody give me some advice or recommend a related tutorial?

need more details.
* what type of robot are you making?
* whats your budget?

Thanks for replying
it is a robotic arm. I do not know anything about the budget yet, but it does not matter at the moment. well, I (almost) know what to do after the robot is constructed, but I do not know how to construct it. Why to use revolute and not prismatic joints for example, how many dof are enough?

It really depends on what you want your robot to do. Just because I can, ill say go with 3-4 DOF. Basic yet not too limited.
