Title: Christmas and Thanks
Post by: MarkBrown on August 15, 2008, 01:14:29 PM
I would like to start by saying thank you to not only the Admin for all the hard work and effort put into this site, but also to all the contributors.  A week ago tomorrow I had an epifany.  I had just crashed my new RC Plane after losing elevator control and decided to amuse myself by seeing if there was any tutorials on building robots.  I found a couple of different sites, but I started reading this one because I didn't see how it was possible to make a robot for under $50.  While tearing through all the material, I found out that the programming I do for a living, couple with the fact that I like to build things, like planes and helicopters, and my minimal experience in electronics all led to what I have wanted to do since I was a little boy.  I would again like to thank everyone for making it so easy to start learning and playing.

In fact, all of the electronics needed for the $50 robot came in today.  My wife said it was like watching a kid at Christmas.  I don't have anyway to make videos, but I will be documenting my progress using pictures.  In fact, I have already started to use SketchUp to design my next couple of robot ideas.

Thank you,
Mark

Yes I did see it, but thank you for pointing it out just in case.  I was debating between using Blender or SketchUp and found your tutorial very helpful.  I also added some of you stuff to my collection.  Are your servos, mainly the standard server as I will be using Futaba 3400s, to scale?  If I make anything, like the Grid-Style PC Board with 356 Holes I am working on now, I will let you know.

Saddly, there are no clubs or schools for robotics where I live so I will be using this site for what I hope it was made for.  :)

well my servos are to scale - there was one piece , I think the voltage regulator that was like 100x scale - I'll fix that when I'm not as lazy .
