PVC

Would you consider PVC as a good building material? Build a framework out of PVC pipe and then take thin sheets(1/8") and cover it?

It is a good material

except for that little problem of it being toxic and all

Seems odd that plumbing would be made of toxic materials. The point of the pvc is to have a strong but light box that is semi waterproof.

I think only the fumes are toxic not the plastic. Probably would not be a good idea to eat it but the c does stand for chloride  so yah it's toxic

LMAO ed !!!  :D  :D :D  :D  :D  :D
PVC gives off toxic fumes when you burn it AND also some fumes escape without any burning or anything , just by evaporation

hmm Sodium explodes when it touches water(not really explodes but it still combusts) and chlorine is a poison gas, when combined, they form an essential thing to life, why do chemistry and common sense not go together? The same goes for water, hydrogen is flammable, oxygen is necassary for a combustion reaction, combine them and they put out fire, CURSE YOU CHEMISTRY

So would building a frame of pvc pipe and then putting 1/8" thick sheeting on it provide a durable chassis for snow plowing?

Yeap PVC is generally good.

It does have a cracking problem if you machine it badly . . . and it tends to only come in round pipes . . .

As for toxicity, certainly better than metal pipes . . . mmmmm rust! Or lead pipes during the roman times . . .

yeah, just dont chew on it or put it under your pillow when you sleep... it will be good, i used 1/8th inch pvc sheet for my robot chassis, it worked well, the rest of the chassis and drive train.....

I would be in a well ventilated area when machining it , just in case

and maverick can u post a pic of your bot?
