Title: What are some cool beginner projects?
Post by: inscover on April 21, 2013, 03:24:05 PM
What are some exciting beginner electronic/robotic projects? I am teaching robotics to lesser fortunate kids and inspiring them to pursue a field in science and technology www.inscover.org (http://www.inscover.org) . Have any ideas?

I'm not sure how "beginner" you mean, but what about a simple IR sensor with a black/white encoder wheel to determine speed (or the number of rotations)?

You can generate encoder wheels here: http://www.bushytails.net/~randyg/encoder/encoderwheel.html (http://www.bushytails.net/~randyg/encoder/encoderwheel.html)

I attached the settings for a simple wheel.

For an actual robot, you could make a robot that:

* avoids light
* is attracted to light
* simple line follower
