Title: Opinions on Hokuyo laser range-finders
Post by: ngoncalves on December 02, 2008, 04:02:43 PM
Hi,

I was planning on buying a laser range-finder from Hokuyo, HOKUYO URG-04LX. I already am using laser from Sick, and in comparison the Hokuyo are faster, consume less power and are half the price. The disadvantage is that they have a smaller usefull range.

If anybody has used laser range-finders from Hokuyo in the past, I would like to ear from them.

I haven't used one myself, so I'll repeat what others have told me . . .

They say the Hokuyo sensors are really great, good data, etc. They give me these complaints:

they only work inside because of IR interference from the sun.

they get expensive when you factor in the cost of the accessories.
