Post by: oh_veteran on September 07, 2012, 11:22:16 PM
Hi guys,

i am planning to build a micro air vehicle, and i am quite a beginner in electronics.

so is there any advise on the what kind of programmable chip i can select.

the chip should be light and small enough.

Thanks for any suggestions~

How should we be able to suggest anything without knowing what you need?

Compared to a mainframe, any microcontroller is both small and light, but compared to half a snowflake... If we don't share the reference, no info is getting across.

Max. weight in grams, ounces or whatever you are accustomed to?

How much program space and how many I/O pins do you need?

Just continue with any info you may think is even remotely interesting - but in objective and absolute measures please :)

@Soeren, well he did say "i am quite a beginner in electronics." Give him some slack! lol :P

oh_veteran, have a look through this page, and then google up anything that doesn't make sense:
http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_faq.shtml#best_microcontroller (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robot_faq.shtml#best_microcontroller)

Post back when you get confused or stuck.

But if this is your first robot, I suggest doing something simpler first. Don't expect to build a Formula 1 racing car if you have never even built a go-kart, etc etc. :P
