hmmm your link didn't work for me.

Remember to only put the code after the "v=" inside the youtube brackets.

tnx, There are only two things that could be better imho:
*there are no motors in those wheels, so I don't think it will go uphill very easily... But on the other hand, it's got legs to do that :D
*It would cost me way to much to make one :(

the way it moves can be used to go uphill also, go put some roller blades on and skate around a bit :)

Not that steep though... I know I, or any other human, can skate uphill easily, but i can't imagine this robot going more than 10 degrees up.

How much do you guys think someone spent on that robot?
Check out the Roboduino, Arduino-compatible board!

Yeah I think it's a Japanese robot.
I wonder why there are so many Japanese robots... I suppose robotics are very popular there, thus many companies and hobbyists are involved.
Either way, they are prepared to spend alot of money on research. :)

well they also dont have regulations on nearly anything so things are mass produced like crazy and are fairly easy to get im guessing... not too mention theyre probably cheaper over there since they make it pretty much locally and so much....

thats just my thoughts on that

That true alright, I live in Belgium and just about every week there is atleast one product that's being recalled because it doesn't qualify for the (health ,...) regulations of Europe.
These products ( toys, shampoos, ...) are all from China. :(

I know we're talking about Japan, but hey ...

Yup, that's probably a fact too.
Must be great eh?  :D "I know a guy at Philips that can hook me up with this and that, and my brother works at Sony, and my neighbor works at Tamiya, etc..." hehe

I'm sure working and living there isn't great at all in reality though

That same Japanese robotics lab makes all these bots, too:

very impressive stuff . . .

Indeed!  :)
Great reading material, especially their terrain adapting robots are interesting. They have done alot of offroad robots, it's a really good place to get inspiration...

Holy cow!

They have some crazy robots there!

Even a walking robot that can walk up a wall, as well as jumping robots. Definitely inspiring!

Man, looking at these advanced robots makes me want to build such contraptions to.
But the fact is: If you want to build robots like these, you need *more budget *more people.

So, a sponsored robotics club would be awesome! ... Sadly for me, there's no robotics club where I live  :-[

Maybe I should found one?  ::)  8)

My experience with these japanese university groups is that they employ armies of free university students. They basically assign one specific part of the robot to each student.

Yeah that's a good idea... The school year is about to start here (1 week) so maybe we can do something like this .
The problem is, I study electronics, so all students will need an electronics piece of the robot to work on. Leaving all the mechanics unsolved...

ooh ! maybe we can work together with a class of elektromechanics students :P
