Title: Tri-Tracks

Hey guys,

So an idea popped into my head to make a tri-track chassis . Sadly I can't build it right now , but I like to jot down my ideas and even do a preliminary sketch and set it aside until I have the time to work on it. So its basically doing some "pre-engineering" for myself.
I highly recommend everyone to do this as well. Have a folder on your computer and just add a page of notes and a sketch of a project you want to do later. That way when you have some free time you have a rough concept right in front of you.

What I want to do is basically make a much larger version of this

Can anyone help me with how the mechanics work and I'll make a quick Sketchup CAD of it.

Also what are the advantages of using a tri-track over a regular tank tread like this :

I guess one obvious advantage is the location of the drive motor. For the TriTrack it is in the middle of the robot, for a normal track it is driving the sprocket wheel at the front or the back of the track which means the track cannot be longer than the physical body of the tank. So the TriTrack "should" have greater ground clearance and be less prone to the tank getting stuck on something.
