Title: Controller, Bot Boards... What is needed?
Post by: nathan25 on August 31, 2007, 12:26:13 PM
Okay so i'm in a pickel... i'm designing an autonomous rover and i'm not to sure about what i need. I kno i need the Bot Board, and i've found one. But i'm not sure what this controller thing is :-\ . so if i have this right i need the Bot Board to tell the controller what to do... and the controller then tells the motors what the Bot Board told it.

Am I right?

Thnxs
Nate

ABB... Atomic Bot Board... and a controller...like a motor controller... servo controller... but more like a motor controller

yep you are right...

The problem is that there are many different names used for the same stuff, those names then get mixed up sometimes,... This all makes it's sometimes hard to see the forest through the trees for new people. :)

Now do you think that i could somehow wire a ABB into a RC circuit?... to save money? like what i'm trying to do is make a semi-autonomous rover outta a RC car... and like if u think about it theres already a controller in the RC circuit so why can't i wire a ABB into it?

You could definately use the atom bot board to control a rover, but you would probably be better off with the $50 robot project to better understand how to implement it.
