hi, Im working on an educational platform for kids in Colombia, using OLPC, classmate,
its going to be VEX compatible, and uses recycled things (like cog wheels from printers etc),
but I have problems trying to secure the cog wheel to the axle,
tried with glue, doesnt resist, and because of the lower radius of the axle, the cogwheel is very disbalanced,

you may want to look into getting some sandpaper and epoxy to hold the cog on the axle. It won't be perfectly center, but I assume since you tried using just glue that isn't a problem.
Quick tips about epoxy and metal: Sand it down really well, and buy the "fast drying" epoxy.
Edit: I'm digging the home made whiskers. Way to go!

I tried with tape (teflon tape, masking tape, sticky tape, with super glue, pegadit) as you can see in the picture, but wasnt strong enough ;(

Epoxy is a combination of a resin and a hardener. So given the right usage and application, it can be much stronger than super glue. It can also fill in the space between the axle and the cog unlike super glue because its cured form is much more solid.

Use a bushing, made of a piece of metal tube, that fits snug on the axle and if needed, drill the centerhole to the size required by the outer measure of the tube. Use a very sharp drillbit and go fast (use a drill stand).

Why?
Btw. I don't dig your whiskers too much - they seem to be isolated in the place where they should make contact on "impact" and not where they're connected?
Do they work that way?

I thought this had to be made from scrapped parts...
If it doesn't have to be, then do like soeren said and go with a bushing. It'll be much more centered aka balanced.
