Title: Cheap spring steel?
Post by: Razor Concepts on September 12, 2009, 08:56:37 PM
I am looking for a cheap source of thin spring steel, around 1/8" wide. I looked on mcmaster but it costs roughly $30 for 25 feet of it.

Also, if the spring steel comes in a roll, how do you change it so that in its normal state it is completely flat? Is that possible?

$30 for 25 feet doesn't sound too bad.

When supplied in a roll it IS flat.... If you cut the binders it will "spring" back to flat, which can be quite violent an event (considering how sharp the endges probably are)...

I get my spring steal from mcmaster . . .

You can buy it flat, too. The type that comes as a roll just doesn't unfold 100% flat.

Basically lay it out, and put lots of flat heavy things on it. Preferably in a hot environment, and for several days.
