How to make a Parallel port programmer?
« on: March 03, 2008, 09:41:35 AM »
Hi,
Can any of you please help me make my own parallel port programmer for Atmel AVR Atmega16 macro
I have heard that it requires a few resistors only. Nonetheless I don't know how to make it. I want to write code in avrstudio. then copy the .hex file from it to the pony prog programmer and download it to the above mentioned macro from my parallel port.
Can it be made? If so, and if it is cheap and easy to make then please guide me. (A circuit diagram with the explanation will be appreciated).

thanx,
harrypotterjkw

i've posted it a few times but here it is once more for the record.
i use this method as my primary way of programming AVRs:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Ghetto-Programming%3a-Getting-started-with-AVR-micro/

the article explains only one of the ATtiny AVRs but the process is the same for all of them.
