OK guys
I am planning to make a collection of components in Google Sketchup meant for robotics .
I myself have made quite a few parts myself and I will include them.
For those who want to make parts or who have made parts already upload it to Google Warehouse ( or send me the CAD) and I will add it to my collection. I will give you all credit for your work .
the collection name will be "SoR Robotics Collection"
Thank You,
Eric
If you made or know of any robot or robot component in sketchup and the parts are more or less to scale than please post the link to the robot or the component. Thanks
Here is the stuff I have so far ( some are mine some are not )

Hi, here is my 16x2 character LCD module.
Do you require both the .skp and .skb files? I put them both in a zip anyway.

Here it is

Airman00's Robotics Collection
actually I got a lot of people who want to contribute to this , so it will be basically finished in an hour or so

hey, i don't know if you guys have Solidworks or not, but if you do, you can get models form:
http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/ (http://www.3dcontentcentral.com/)
www.lynxmotion.com (http://www.lynxmotion.com)

i used to use solidworks but I have found that Google Sketchup is ten times easier and works just as good . Thanks anyway BANE
Anybody else have any other CADs for Google Sketchup?
-
i had solidworks file of my $50 robot, but i cant find them :'(
-
can you import them.
I noticed that google sketchup allows you to import lots of different files. Unfortunately you cant export them so you are forced to use that program if you download any of the models, even if i prefer to use other tools for modelling
-
in google sketchup ( well I have pro , i dont know about basic) you can save sketchup files into autocad files
-
I made the ATMega8 and the servos using Google Sketchup... but at the time I didnt know how to change the units from inches so I had to draw them at like 300x scale in approximate inches hahaha... but now I have it in millimeters which is awesome because millimeters let you get some crazy details in =) Im going to remake the stuff I already made. I also made the 7805 vreg and such... ah well, learning process :)
-
send me the link to a "to scale version" of your CADs and ill add it to the collection
-
Heres 2 more modules for you :).
A crystal oscillator and a potentiometer.
The leads on the oscillator are slightly thicker than scale, but sketchup has a minimum radius for circles... :(
-
Excellent
Keep the CAD models coming , people!
-
Excellent work!
I would like this to be a part of the community project (http://www.societyofrobots.com/robotforum/index.php?topic=2765.0).
I would also like to link your directory to the SoR site directly but not really sure where is good . . . ideas? Maybe a short members tutorial page titled something like "Google Sketchup Robot Parts" or something like that . . .
-
Heres the screw terminals for that DC motor driver board that you said you would make.
I hope you havent allready done them...
-
thanks ,
im on vacation so this will all have to wait for a week or so... :-\

Yeah, i think a member's tutorial is in place, also printing and drawing out to scale is a bit difficult.
Ill get started on a tutorial next week.
-
Well here is the tutorial

If anyone wants to add more stuff , just contact me about it ;)

I think a link to the video tutorials should be on there, along witha few pictures of impressive models to entice the undecided :D

done , thanks for input

I spent all weekend learning sketchup ;D
still have lots of learning to do.
eric, i noticed the video links on the members tutorial are outdated.
I would link to this page with video tutorials for the latest version, and self paced tutorials!! note taking is recommended!

made anything cool yet?

You're right . I'm updating that tutorial now. :)

ok some more of my new skills at work!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
very nice!
Now try to include the locations of the screw holes in your model.
-
ok i will model these tonight:

ok
can u please model them , as I didn't model the actual 90 degree connectors in my servo mount , I only modeled where the holes from the connector would be
Email me the link when you are done and I'll add it to my collection

anyone else running into a problem with trying to make solid faces .8 x .8mm or less? Im trying to model the KA7805 used for the $50 robot but at the top of the pins where the pin width shrinks down a little bit, its not drawing the faces within that slant area...
also, im going to try to contact Google and see if they will support an ability to use and measure as little as .01mm or even .001mm instead of 1mm being the smallest free handable(yeah thats right, im cool enough to make my own words) and measurable. It would be most helpful IMO.
-
Im trying to model the KA7805
look in my robotics collection I have a model for that voltage regulator
-
yeah but its like 780mm too big
-
yeah but its like 780mm too big
its not to scale??? I think it is close enough to it
can u correct it if it is , and scale it down and upload it and I'll correct it.
Btw , why are you going for such small detail??? ;)

done! :P
-
to scale? Its about 500x scale there buddy lol
And Im going into small detail because:
1) When people design their boards, they want to scale. At least I do anything
2) A lot of detail pwns :)
-
i've been making all my stuff to scale according to spec sheets i find on the interweb
-
same
-
i've added more models to my collections
and heres tonight's progress on my lil one
-
to scale? Its about 500x scale there buddy lol
oh right!
LMAO I forgot about that!
I scaled it down for my designs and have the component saved on my computer, thats what I've been using , lol
I'll upload the too scale tomorrow.
-
I added a bunch of more models to my collection .
Anyone have a Sketchup model to share?
-
i've made a couple mounting brackets i could post up.
-
I made a VERY crude version of an Arduino Duemilanove. If you would like me to post it I can, keep in mind I never figured out how to make pins.
-
I have a model of the Solarbotics GM Series Plastic Wheel.
Some of the sections aren't exactly to scale (the spokes we awkward to make) but otherwise it is pretty close to scale in terms of diameter and thickness :)
Hope this is helpful!

good work.
can you upload it to Google Warehouse and send me the link to the model in google warehouse.
