Yep my first robot project.  Not my first custom RC though.  It is the first time ive done anything even close to this.

Just about the entire thing is custom parts.  The large metal gear and hub adapters and other hardware stuff is from servo city, or locally.  But all the black delrin(plastic) is my design.  A friend of mine has a small lazer cutter in his basement.  So all the parts where cut on that.  I just E-mail him a cad file.

The lazer cutting is great.  But the cost of the machine is crazy.  I'm just lucky I have axcess to one.  It wont do aluminum or anything like that.  Its fairly low powered.

My wife was nice enough to get me this for Xmas

I havnt had time to build the machine yet.  Been too busy with bumblebee.  Its a much more cost effective machine vs the Lazer.  With the right head And built stirdy it will cut just about anything.  Once up and running all future projects will be built with it.

Oh my, I've got a kit similar with that one a few years back and never got a chance to actually build the machine. Lack of time, proper tools and the necessary hardware (linear bearings and lead screws) made me postpone this to a latter date. I wanted to buy a kit (only the plywood chassis and hardware) from Rockliff in 2008 but I just arrived in Toronto and could not afford to spend the money at that time. So, if you actually build yours and think you can replicate the chassis for me (I'll buy the hardware from Rockliff) I'm interested.
Good luck with your projects!

Thankyou

Its not RC.  Not yet anyway.  I have a wireless PS2 controller I have to add to it.  Im also thinking to go bluetooth and controll him from my cell phone.  But I'm not sure I can figure that one out in time.  Its hard to see but it has an Axon microcontroller barried under all that wire and H shaped piece on top.

He kinda reminds me of C3PO before he had "coverings".

I have a Tamiya VW beetle body for it.  This is from a different car but show that it will fit.  Bumblebee has to be yellow.

But the chance of someone directly doing that is very low, even if someone does hack it, what are they going to be able to do? Drive it around in his room?
Howdy

Thanks guys.

Ide love to win an Axon for my next project.  I'll have to put together a video.  I have much more to lean about robots than I have to teach.  But I could do something about mechanical construction etc.  Its too bad that bumblbee wont be done by August.
