Title: Help me picking my motor
Post by: linkp on February 29, 2012, 11:14:18 AM
Hi!

I'm having some issues in choosing the model of dc motor to my robot..
I'm beginner and i'm starting with arduino..
I googled everything I could and I didn't find what I wanted (even that RMF calculators didn't help me), so I'm here asking for your help...

Diameter: 10cm
Velocity: 1m/s
Weight: max 5kg
Number of Wheels: 4
Aceleration: 0.5 m/s^2
Máx Inclination: 25 degrees

I have one more question: Do I need a gear box motor?

I'd be very pleased if you send me the model link of the motor that fills my needs..

Thanks  ;)

Wouldn't it be better to ask someone to explain how to pick motor, rather than asking to get You motor and doing all calculations for You? You know, next time You build something You still won't know how to pick suitable motor  ;D

You don't have to google everything, just what's related to motor torque and RPM  ;D

I have one more question: Do I need a gear box motor?
If You ask someone to pick motor for You, why are You bothered with whether You need gearbox or not? To answer it short - yes.

I'd be very pleased if you send me the model link of the motor that fills my needs..
You don't provide enough information to know what motor would suit Your needs.

Thanks for your answer

So, after getting the RMF calculations done in societyofrobots site, i got this:

And the motors I found don't have the RMF needed, thats why I'm asking... In the picture the needed RMF is 4.02, and the max I found was like 0.5...

I would like to learn of corse, if someone can explain me how to do I would be very pleased.. And I don't need the exact link of the motor, just links of sites where I can buy good motors for good prices, and the way to get the motor that suits me :p

Thank you

Can You post the link to the motor You found (with RMF of 0.5)?

What voltage Your going to use?
