An engineering degree is surely much more in demand than science - that's what you mean by MS yea?
The subject you mentioned sounds like you'd have great trouble finding a job. But then I live in a fairly backward country that'll probably never have any autonomous vehicle makers
The high tech things I've seen in factories tend to be off-the-shelf parts. The common engineers work with the more mundane mechanical systems and figuring out how to plug in the off-the-shelf bits.
Also beware that lots of people do those mechatronics degrees because they sound exciting, so I wouldn't be suprised if there's an oversupply of graduates. Could be wrong tho.
