Title: erm.. :-\, Servo: Robot forward, turning etc...
Post by: Vince on January 31, 2009, 12:08:00 AM
I made a post not too long ago about how Each channel may corrolate to each servo. So, now here I am with the parts I need for a Remote controlled thing, having the foreseen problem my Dad Foresaw.

I've modified the servo's**, and basically when I push the forward stick on my remote (there are two sticks, one up and down, the other left and right) only one servo operates. Equally when I push the stick left or right, the other operates. I was just thinking, would I actually need a Y harness??

cause I think frodo told me that the controller operates any/and all servo's attached. Perhaps he misundertsood the question (or more likely, I worded it wrongly).

So what would I need to do, keeping in mind I do have a budget and I don't wanna have to go program stuff D:

Soooo.. Yeah.. Maybe it's because the controlled has two sticks instead of one analogue control. I doubt it.

** Actually I'm waiting for the glue to dry :(     lol

If you want to operate two servos with one port, yes you need a y-harness. If you want to save money you can make one yourself if you have the connectors. However I think you're trying to make a differential drive (two servos for left wheel, right wheel), then an optimal solution would be to use a v-tail mixer.

correct. yes, I am trying to make it with two wheels. Basically I want Them both to go forwards when I push forward, and when I push left, for left to go backwards and right to go forwards etc etc..

How should I do that? With a v-tail?

-But wait, in the video of Admin making a RC bot he just plugged them straight in..
 :o ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Yes, if you will need a v-tail mixer for that.

Admin just plugged them straight in because he wasn't demonstrating a robot like you are making. If you don't want to purchase a v-tail mixer just plug the servos in has you had before, and pushing the stick to the top right will go forward, bottom left would be backward, top left would be left, and bottom right would be right.

But that's the point  ???

I'm not making a robot, I'm trying to make what Admin was making  :o

The robot in admins video didn't go forward if he pushed one stick forward - notice in the video that he pushed the stick to a corner (like I described in the post above)

Oh I get it  :D

Thanks soo much  ;D

It was just a little more different because I have two joysticks.
