need to build robot arm!
« on: September 06, 2007, 12:53:15 AM »
Hi all,

I am preparing an "art installation", and I need to figure out how to build a robot arm that will stay fixed, hold a telephone receiver, and shake. I know it soudns strange, but this is the project, and I know nothing about robots! It seems that I can get away with a plastic model, but the shaking is the tricky part that led me to the conclusion that I need to think about a part of a robot!

Where do I start? Is it possible to do and what materials will I need? Of course, funding is personal funding, and even if I try to get a phone company involved, it will take forever to actually get anything from them. And I need to start it now. So, please, any suggestions are welcomed!

I need the most simple robot arm that can give the impression of an arm and shake. The shaking can be a random pattern.

I don't know where to start, hence this post!
