SoR Electronics Tutorials
« on: February 02, 2008, 08:57:35 PM »
Hi. I've read most of the electronics tutorials and I understood almost everything. My question is how do I learn to put all of those components together and make them work? Are the tutorials just supposed to explain what the different parts do, or am I just stupid and don't get how to put them together?

So: How do I learn to make electronic circuits?

Oh, here first hit on google search for "electronics tutorial": http://www.ffldusoe.edu/Faculty/Denenberg/Topics/Electronics/Alex_Pounds/Index.htm

I've looked through it and it's kind of like Admin's tutorial but a little more detailed.

first you need to know what your circuit will do , then we'll help you from there and show you how to build it

when i first started out with robotics I got something like this
http://www.radioshack.com/sm-electronics-learning-lab--pi-2102913.html

It came with a lot of components and then all you have to do is follow the books that come with it that teaches you about different circuits and how to make it. Eventually , you'll understand how to use all the components together.

@Airman- Yeah, I was looking at those right after i posted this  ;D
Are they really worth it? After I am finished with it will I be able to make a circuit like the $50 robot board by myself?

@Ed - just finished downloading. Going to check it out tomorrow.  ;)

Electronics for Dummies. hmmm... yea that's for me  ;D

look around , radioshack sells it for more than it costs elsewhere

serious, search google and youll find it for like 20 bucks less

if i find it , ill post it for cheaper

Nope, it seems that this kit is only produced by Radioshack. I've looked around on ebay and found some. However, I don't trust ebay and something is probably messed up since they're selling it for like 30 bucks. Anyways, that kit will make my life a lot easier. And all those components come with it.

$65. holy moly. why not get an arduino and spend teh money you saved on add ons? you've been here long enough. you know enough to be able to do it.

I just want to get a nice, solid understanding of electronics and designing circuits. I've taken shortcuts in the past, I didn't like the results. If I just get an arduino, I won't learn anything about electronics. I want to be able to design my own circuits instead of buying ready ones. I am not trying to learn to make a circuit for a certain robot. I want to get that kit, learn electronics, analyze the $50 board, and then start trying to make simple circuits followed by more advanced ones.

not to put a damper on the mood( Latley i've been turning into the anti-me, how sad :( ), but distribuition is technically illegal. And this is slightyl off topic, by why do movies have a 500,000 $ fine and up to 5 years in a federal prison for breaking the copyright agreement once?( I was bored and actually read the FBI warning)

Wow, I like electronics but the names of those MIT classes.... scary...

I wouldnt doubt that my IP has certain people worried, I've been on pyrotechnic site that teach how to make various things, and ordered many electronic parts. Maybe that why the 2 batteried I ordered have been in California the past 10 days, crappy fed ex...

The best way to learn how to design circuits is by first copying other peoples circuits. After building other peoples circuits you will start to have an intuitive idea of how to design your own circuits.
