Title: 2 cameras 1 monitor
Post by: aringendmatt on January 27, 2013, 06:19:56 AM
I'm looking for someones wisdom on how to use 2 cameras on one monitor with  ether a switch or button to change which one I can see on the monitor. I'm trying to save space in my control box for my robot project and don't really want 2 monitors to lug around.

And anyone who could tell me how to do it with ether a wifi or usb webcam to keep my costs down would be my hero :)

You probably need to tell us more about the hardware setup...

In the past I've done wireless IP camera streams over wifi (or ethernet), and displayed the stream using Python.  In other words, any programming language that lets you show the vid stream will also let you turn off one stream and show the other, etc.

Are your cameras analog, or webcam/USB/WiFi connected?

If they are webcam style, just open two windows.

If they are analog, you might try using a small PC for monitoring, and use two video capture cards. Or a video switchbox. Or a monitor with multiple inputs.
