Title: Free chassis materials
Post by: greywanderer012345 on October 09, 2010, 03:05:53 PM
I couldn't find a thread for free chassis materials that can be commonly found, but I've thought of a couple examples. I was just in a home improvement store (Home Depot) and found these 2 free items. 1) Paintsticks- totally free. 2) In the kitchen display area, there are laminate countertop samples, some of them are 3 1/2" x 5". Please expand on this post and list any free materials that can be commonly found. I'll stay on the lookout and post it here, too.

Junked electronics make great free chassis materials.  My robot is currently using a piece of a steam cleaner I tore apart as his chassis.  I have an empty VCR chassis that will serve as a second platform when this one proves too small.  I have a really old thrustmaster joystick that I think would make an excellent spacey looking chassis, clearance is a little too low for my liking, so I wouldn't put the Axon in it, but one of the smaller Arduino's or clones would be great.
