6-Channel Transmitter and Receiver

Hey, I want to get this package for a project:
http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/item/JS-6/search/6-CHANNEL_TRANSMITTER_AND_RECEIVER_.html
I get everything but I'm confused by this part:
Note: To use this transmitter as a primary control, it is necessary to use a micro controller module to split and amplify the received signal into six individual channels. See PDF spec sheet (linked below) for a schematic for this modification / addition, provided by one of our customers.
If I want to use it just for example a simple RC car, would I HAVE to use a microcontroller, or is that for something else?
Thanks

There is a spec sheet on that page, but I have no idea how to do this. If it is easy please tell me. Thanks
